WHAT WE BELIEVE · STATEMENT OF FAITH

Plainly, so you know who is knocking.

We serve anyone, regardless of what they believe, and we never make help conditional on agreement. But you deserve to know what we hold, in our own words, before you volunteer with us, partner with us, or open your door to us.

I

Scripture

We hold the Bible to be inspired by God, trustworthy, and sufficient for teaching us who God is and how to live. We read it in community and in context, and we let it correct us — including when it corrects how we run this ministry.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

II

God

One God, eternally Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not three offices worn by one person, and not three gods cooperating — one God in three persons, which is a mystery we confess rather than a puzzle we have solved.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” — Deuteronomy 6:4

III

Jesus Christ

Fully God and fully human, born of Mary, crucified under Pontius Pilate, raised bodily on the third day, ascended, and returning. Acts 10:38 is our summary of his earthly ministry — anointed with power, he went about doing good and healing all.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” — Colossians 1:15

IV

The Holy Spirit

God present and active now — convicting, comforting, gifting, and empowering ordinary people to do work beyond their capacity. We expect the Spirit to move in a hospital room as readily as in a service.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” — Acts 1:8

V

Humanity and sin

Every person is made in God’s image and therefore possesses a dignity that poverty, addiction, a criminal record, or immigration status cannot reduce. Every person is also broken, ourselves included, which is why we serve without condescension.

“So God created mankind in his own image.” — Genesis 1:27

VI

Salvation

Rescue is God’s work, received by grace through faith in Christ, not earned by service — including ours. We do good because we are saved, never in order to be.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.” — Ephesians 2:8

VII

The Church

The local church is God’s plan, not our competition. We exist to strengthen congregations and to return every person we serve to one. When SWAT leaves a situation, a church remains.

“Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.” — Ephesians 5:23

VIII

Mercy and justice

Caring for the orphan, the widow, the prisoner, the sick, and the stranger is not a program added to the gospel; it is evidence of it. We pursue mercy in the immediate case and justice in the pattern behind it.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” — James 1:27

IX

Hope

Christ will return and make all things new. That is why we can work at street level without despair, and why we measure our work in faithfulness rather than in headlines.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” — Revelation 21:4

HOW THIS SHOWS UP IN PRACTICE

Doctrine you can watch us keep.

Every person bears God’s image.

We serve without asking what anyone believes, votes, or has done — and we do not require attendance, testimony, or agreement in exchange for help.

The local church is central.

We deploy people from their own congregations and hand every ongoing relationship back to a local pastor. We plant nothing that competes.

Truth includes telling it about ourselves.

Financials and Form 990 are published on the leadership page. Stories are published only with written consent, given twice.

Mercy and healing belong together.

Two branches, one verse. We refuse to run a relief operation that never stays, or a teaching ministry that never shows up with a truck.

We are not the whole church, and this statement is not a fence. Pastors from many traditions serve alongside us; where we differ, we defer to your church, not the reverse.
