Ready before the call comes.
Most organizations start with what they do. Ours starts with why we stay ready. Both answers come from the same stretch of Matthew’s gospel — so that’s where the story starts.
PART I · THE WHY
Three parables about being found ready
Before Jesus says a word about the hungry or the sick, he tells three stories about readiness. They’re why SWAT exists as a standing team — trained, equipped, and on call — instead of a once-a-year volunteer day.
MT 25:1–13
The Ten Virgins
Keep your lamp filled.
Five brought oil and five didn't. Readiness isn't a mood — it's maintenance. Our members train and stay supplied at their stations long before anything goes wrong.

The Talents
Use what you were handed.
The servant who buried his talent kept it safe — and got it wrong. The nurse, the contractor, the filmmaker: whatever you do all week is exactly what you bring on a converge.

The Faithful Servant
Be found doing it.
Blessed is the one found at work when the master returns. Not planning to work. Not fondly remembering work. At it. That's the posture we're built to hold.
Then the same teaching ends by telling us exactly what to be ready for.
PART II · THE WHAT
The sheep, the goats, and seven stations
In Matthew 25:31–46, the King separates sheep from goats with six plain sentences — I was hungry, I was a stranger, I was sick. Add James’s charge about orphans and widows, and you have our seven Acts of Mercy. Each one is a station on our wall. Keep scrolling and watch them light up.
