PRIVACY POLICY · LAST UPDATED 1 JULY 2026

What we collect, and what we will never do with it.

People contact us at the worst moments of their lives. That makes privacy a matter of safety here, not just compliance.

In short: we collect only what we need to help you or process a gift, we never sell or rent your information, we never publish your story without written permission, and you can ask us to delete your record at any time by emailing our office.

01

Who we are

SWAT for Christ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Houston, Texas. This policy covers this website, our intake and volunteer forms, our donation processing, and email we send you.

02

What we collect

Only what a specific purpose requires:

  • Help requests: your name, a phone number or email, your general location, and what you need. We ask for nothing else to begin.
  • Volunteer and partner forms: name, contact details, home church, skills, and availability.
  • Donations: name, billing details, and gift designation — card numbers are handled by our payment processor and never stored by us.
  • Website analytics: aggregate page views and referrers. We do not use advertising trackers or sell audience data.

03

How we use it

To contact you back, to match volunteers to needs, to receipt and account for donations, and to send updates you asked for. That is the whole list. We do not build profiles, score donors for prospecting resale, or share your record with other ministries.

04

Stories, photos, and film

We publish no photograph, video, or written story identifying a person we serve without written consent — requested once before recording and again before release. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and we will remove the material from anything we control. Children are never identified by name or campus.

05

Who else sees your data

A small number of service providers, each bound by contract and each used for one purpose:

  • Our payment processor, for donation transactions and receipts.
  • Our email provider, for the newsletters and updates you opted into.
  • Our hosting and form provider, which stores submissions on our behalf.
  • A partner agency or church only when routing your request requires it — and only with your knowledge.

06

When we may have to disclose

We will break confidentiality only where the law requires it or where someone is in immediate danger — specifically mandatory reporting of suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, and lawful court orders. We will tell you when we can.

07

How long we keep it

Help-request records are kept for three years so we can pick up a case history, then deleted. Donation records are kept as long as tax law requires. Volunteer records are kept while you are active and for two years after. You can ask us to delete your record sooner.

08

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, unsubscribe from any email with one click, and opt out of ever appearing in our published material. None of these requests will affect the help you receive.

09

Cookies

We use a small number of functional cookies to keep the site working and to remember your language preference. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from requesting help.

10

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page and, for material changes, note the change in our next email update. Prior versions are available on request.
